It may be an off weekend for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers, but the Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series competitors will be on track at Chicagoland Speedway this weekend. Here’s a rundown of race details and storylines to provide your racing fix this weekend:
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series American Ethanol 225
Date: Saturday, July 21, 2012
Location: Chicagoland Speedway—Joliet, Ill.
Time: 8 p.m. ET
Distance: 150 laps/225 miles
Broadcast: TV- SPEED with coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET
Radio: Motor Racing Network Racing Network (MRN) or Sirius XM Channel 90
Storylines
- Timothy Peters leads the points by 12 over second place Justin Lofton; Ty Dillon is 14 points back in the third position
- By completing 73 laps this weekend, veteran Ron Hornaday will reach 50,000 laps run in the NCWTS
- Todd Bodine will make his 200th NCWTS start this weekend
NASCAR Nationwide Series STP 300
Date: Sunday, July 22, 2012
Location: Chicagoland Speedway—Joliet, Ill.
Time: 3 p.m. ET
Distance: 200 laps/300 miles
Broadcast: TV- ESPN with coverage beginning at 2 p.m. ET
Radio: Motor Racing Network Racing Network (MRN) or Sirius XM Channel 90
Storylines
- Elliott Sadler leads by three points over Richard Childress Racing teammate Austin Dillon; Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is 16 points back in third; Sam Hornish Jr. is 32 points back in fourth
- Dillon won the NCWTS race at Chicagoland last fall
- Highest finisher among Dillon, Stenhouse Jr., Hornish Jr. and Sadler will receive the $100,000 Nationwide Dash 4 Cash bonus
- Kyle Busch is the only NSCS regular that will compete in the NNS race this weekend
