Richmond International Raceway Announces: Matthew & Daniel Hansen 400

DAYTONA BEACH,FL- Richmond International Raceway made their big announcement on their ever popular, Crown Royal Presents the “Your Name Here 400.”  This program allows thousands of people to submit who they think is a worthy candidate for this prestigious honor.  This year’s nominees are a group of incredible indiviuals who have served their country and are deserving of much recognition.  Rutledge Wood, Matt Kenseth, country star Rodney Atkins, Yvonne Briese with Crown Royal, and Richmond International Raceway’s Doug Fritz were all on hand to announce the nominees and winner.  Before announcing the winner, let’s take a look at the nominees…

1.  Casey Traxler:  U.S. Army (retired), Mooresville, N.C., Former Legends Driver

2.  Cindy Shelton, U.S. Air Force (retired), San Antonio, Texas

3.  Matthew Hansen, U.S. Marine Corps, San Marcos, Calif.

4.  Mark Brown, U.S. Air Force, Knob Noster, Mo.

5.  Richard Coffland, U.S. Army & Army National Guard (retired), Grand Coulee, Wash.

On hand to thank each nominee was 4 Star Admiral Mark Fitzgerald who first said, “It’s not often that I get to do a friendly press conference.”

Moments later the winner was announced during Rodney Atkins performance.  And the winner is, Matthew Hansen.  Hansen is a Marine who had three logistical deployments overseas and a brother who passed away that was also a Marine.  This award for Matthew will be in honor of his brother Daniel.  The name of the race will be the “Matthew & Daniel Hansen 400.”

Finalists were nominated by friends and family on what makes them an American hero.  The finalists were voted on by fans on NASCAR.com for whose name they wanted to see on the infield grass at Richmond International Raceway.
